The G9 is highly scalable to 96,000 ports per chassis and uses field-hardened software with proven five 9's (99.999%) reliability and over 50 million ports deployed worldwide.

Unified Gateway for Network Convergence – The G9 was built from the ground up for wireless, wireline, and converged networks. Wireless and wireline codecs, protocols, and trunking and access interfaces are supported -- allowing the G9 to be the key network element in advanced 3GPP, 3GPP2, and TISPAN architectures. Extremely versatile, the G9 provides simultaneous, any-to-any switching for maximum flexibility and cost-effectiveness, and it fully supports non-proprietary, open standards interfaces.

A powerful IP gateway for mobile operators, the G9’s wireless solutions span 2G, 3G, and 4G/LTE architectures across GSM, UMTS, CDMA, and satellite networks. The G9 also supports advanced wireline solutions including Class 4/IP Trunking and Class 5 replacement, as well as greenfield VoIP, in global ANSI, ETSI, and ITU markets. In converged networks, the G9 provides solutions for Fixed Mobile Convergence/ femtocells, IP to IP multimedia transcoding, and IMS convergence. A flexible migration platform, the G9 is highly interoperable and can be used to provide scalable VoIP services in conjunction with GENBAND’s C3 softswitch, IMS cores and other call control platforms, ensuring investment protection and cost-effective transition to next generation IP networks.

Latest Generation of Gateway Architecture – The G9 is built from state-of-the-art DSP, computing, and media processing components, and it includes the latest in high value feature upgrades like IPv6 and Virtual Media Gateway support. IP and TDM switch fabrics are provided for high quality, native interworking at TDM to TDM, TDM to packet, and packet to packet network borders. Its massively scalable backplane and flexible 28-slot chassis enables a low power, efficient card design that allows operators to easily add TDM and IP session capacity as well as incremental services.

Cost-Saving Integrated Features – The G9 has many integrated features and functions that reduce operator costs by limiting the number of additional elements required in the network. Integrated features include echo cancellation, emergency services, lawful intercept, and media server/MRFP capabilities such as audio bridging, conferencing, announcements, and tones. The G9 also integrates a high capacity signaling gateway that lets operators centralize network signaling to reduce total cost of ownership. With powerful IP-to-IP processing capabilities, the G9 supports IP Transcoding, multi-path OSPF for Layer 3+ routing and control, MPLS RSVP-TE for QoS, and an extended set of session border controller features.

High Definition(HD) Voice – The G9 supports superior voice transmission and quality utlizing high definition voice codecs such as Wideband AMR and voice quality enhancement features such as Automatic Level Control (ALC) and Adaptive Noise Reduction (ANR) for both circuit and packet based interfaces.

Carrier-Grade Reliability and Management – As a carrier class gateway, the G9 provides multiple levels of redundancy and load-sharing on critical system components, cards, and network interfaces, in addition to in-service software upgrades. The G9 supports open interfaces for flexible OSS integration and is managed by a comprehensive element manager -- GenView™ -- for centralized OAM&P control of multiple G9 platforms.
