SR3 Routing Proxy
The SR3TM Routing Proxy is a high capacity session routing engine that maximizes cost savings and revenue generation. With a powerful, easy-to-use business rules interface, the SR3 allows service providers to set call routing profit targets with point-and-click ease.
PROFIT MAXIMIZATION
Service providers are often faced with tremendous complexities for routing their VoIP and TDM voice traffic between networks. Rapidly-changing route options from underlying network providers, along with constant churn in route pricing and terms, can place a significant strain on a service provider’s ability to manage the bottom line.
The SR3 eliminates the guesswork in maintaining route profitability. Based on rule sets defined by the service provider, calls are automatically routed along the path that yields the best combination of cost savings and call quality. This powerful session routing engine returns real fiscal gains for service providers and improves cost control and profits in key ways:
- Increases the cost efficiency of every call at every routing junction by negotiating the best possible rate dynamically, in real time
- Reduces human resource requirements for network profitability monitoring and routing adjustments
- Reduces vendor management overhead by supplying reporting tools to select the most reliable, cost-effective network providers and call paths
The SR3 also extends the useful life of existing VoIP network equipment by communicating with and directing the operation of other network elements involved in call routing (e.g., softswitches, SBCs). As a result, there is no need to upgrade existing hardware investments to gain more efficiency.
ADVANCED ROUTING FEATURE SET
The SR3 centralizes routing and enables a multi-vendor architecture using the SIP RFC-compliant 300 redirect method. A wide variety of routing options are offered, including dynamic LCR, profit-based routing, jurisdictional, percentage-based routing plans and customer-specific rate plans based on traffic type, among others. Visual LCR tables are provided with an easy-to-use drag and drop interface.
CARRIER CLASS SCALE, PERFORMANCE, AND RELIABILTY
GENBAND’s SR3 is a carrier grade, high availability, redundant NEBS certified configuration. The SR3 supports 10 million dial codes along with 50 million rates and can be rapidly uploaded to support 10 million routes, which can be updated and changed to propagate to the call server typically in less than 10 minutes. Each SR3 server supports up to 250 SIP Invite/Redirect transactions per second (TPS). Adding more servers results in increased performance in 250 TPS increments per additional server. Call servers load balance across a cluster of SR3 servers through DNS.
The SR3 platform can include one or more clusters of standard, carrier grade, high availability servers and one or more clusters of call servers (GENBAND S3 SBC™, C3 Gateway Controller™, or third party call servers). Call servers query the SR3 with SIP Invites for route information on every received call request. The SR3 responds to the query with a SIP Redirect for route choices, and the call server completes the call based on the response.
Purpose-built for route redirect management, the SR3 is designed for speed. The SR3 finds the optimal profit path for a call at unparalleled speed by separating the routing task and removing it from the stateful call path, enabling every network element involved with routing to operate faster.
MANAGEMENT
The software used in the SR3 does not rely on any particular network hardware or software configuration to achieve its results, so its capabilities can be added to almost any network management infrastructure system without concern over compatibility. A feature-rich, flexible API is provided for automated provisioning or other custom interface development. Users can apply thresholds to any route module in order to create profit on the calls and manage millions of routes for multiple suppliers on an inter-intra-jurisdiction basis. This enables service providers to split the inbound traffic for each customer and set different margins for each destination, or grouping of destinations, as well as minimum acceptable profit margin.
- Eliminates the guesswork in maintaining target profitability
- Powerful, easy-to-use business rules interface with Drag-and-Drop interface
- Significant CapEx savings, reducing SBC/softswitch ports utilized by up to 50%
- OpEx savings through reduced provisioning complexity
- Increased margins and profitability through dynamic LCR, profit-based routing, jurisdictional, percentage-based routing plans and customer-specific rate plans based on traffic type
- Natural scalability when each site requires more than a single SBC or softswitch cluster
- Support for 10 million dial codes and 50 million rates, with rapid upload of rate plans and routing changes
- Performance of up to 250 calls per second per server and N+1 clustering support for growth to very large solutions
