The mG15K also offers carrier-grade performance and scalability, with better than five 9s (99.999%) reliability and the DSO port and call processing capabilities needed to support a toll-quality voice network.

Powerful Voice Transport

Service providers can save on bandwidth and trunk costs with the mG15K. By moving voice traffic from the PSTN to the data network, this media gateway can save up to 66% of the bandwidth on leased trunk lines. Deployed between tandem switching offices or wireless switching centers, the mG15K uses voice compression and silence detection/suppression for both IP and ATM applications.

This media gateway supports ISUP, PRI, QSIG and PTS Trunking as well as SIGTRAN backhaul with IUA, M2UA and V5UA.

By using the mG15K to switch calls, service providers can reduce the capital expense associated with traditional telephony networks. Packet-based networks also flatten the call handling architecture, and can thus deliver more reliable and efficient call switching. The mG15K interworks smoothly with the SS7 signalling network to handle connection setup and takedown, and to manage the media stream. Packet Core Switching

As a core packet switch connecting Carrier VoIP Network gateways through fully protected OC-3/STM-1 links, the mG15K routes the signalling and bearer traffic over a broadband packet backbone network.

The mG15K delivers full redundancy for all components. All mG15K cards are hot-swappable and the gateway provides for hitless software migration.
