A6 Mobility Application Server
Demand for VoIP services has sustained a strong growth in fixed IP broadband networks and is projected for significant growth in mobile IP broadband networks. While VoIP users enjoy a multitude of SIP-enabled features, they have been limited in their ability to use their VoIP services and features in the mobile domain. The A6 provides service providers with a solution to converge fixed line, 2G/3G/4G cellular voice and mobile VoIP services. By deploying A6, service providers enable VoIP users to originate and receive calls on their cellular device and enjoy the rich communications experience of their fixed line service while staying mobile. This raises the bar for a converged end-user service experience while for service providers, enhances customer loyalty and drives incremental revenue.
Converging VoIP and Mobile Voice
Residential and business users have more communications devices and services than ever before. Services are evolving to deliver a seamless experience across devices and technologies for personal and business purposes. The proliferation of devices and applications has greatly enhanced both communications and productivity. For network operators, this expanding communications universe creates new revenue opportunities, while also presenting more complex service, implementation and operational challenges.
Installed base of cellular networks bring significant revenue in voice and messaging services to mobile operators. Within the cellular domain, service nodes such as the Service Control Point (SCP) and Home Location Register (HLR) are among the key elements for delivery of voice services. A full overhaul or overlay of these existing in-service nodes to upgrade with SIP capabilities cannot be a practical solution. Network operators can now deliver a converged service experience across both fixed and mobile domains with the A6 from GENBAND. The A6 resolves the issue by providing the essential control interfaces between cellular and SIP domain, making it possible to offer a converged VoIP and cellular service.
Meeting Business Needs
The GENBAND A6 is ideally positioned to serve the growing business marketplace. Business users are typically very mobile requiring seamless communications in both fixed and mobile domains. Furthermore, business users need to have access to their advanced communication feature sets in either domain.
With the GENBAND A6, service providers can address the needs of business users by extending their advanced communications functionality in either fixed or mobile domains. If a business user places a call from their mobile, the called party will see their 4 digit business extension. Business users can also access the majority of their Hosted IP business feature set on any 2G/3G mobile phone that they use today.
Serving the Residential Market
The GENBAND A6 can also enable operators to better differentiate their triple play and quadruple play offers. Many residential subscribers have not made the jump to a smartphone device yet desire the benefits of fixed mobile convergence. The A6 enables service providers to converge fixed VoIP and mobile services for those residential subscribers even with if they own a typical 2G/3G mobile. As an example, if a call comes in on a residential landline for your teenager, the teen can grab the call on their personal mobile without the other party being aware of any transition.
- Allows consistent and ubiquitous service with feature consistency enables service providers to reduce churn and uplift revenue.
- Interoperates with any mobile network, making it deployable in 2G/3G/4G CDMA and GSM networks.
