Hermon Pon has over 25 years of broad experience in communication and networking with knowledge that spans mobile, wireless, optical, and wireline networks, having played a lead role in the optical, mobile wireless, and more recently VoIP revolutions. He has a track record of success with both large and small companies, with broad general management experience and functional expertise across R&D, product management, marketing, and operations. Previous to his current work, as a strategic industry consultant, Hermon was VP of Corporate Development for Tekelec, which he joined a result of the acquisition of Taqua, a venture funded softswitch company, where Hermon was Chief Product Officer responsible for end to end product development, delivery, and support. Prior to that, he worked with leading venture firms Battery Ventures, and Sevin Rosen Funds, as an entrepreneur in residence. He also served on the advisory board of numerous startups, including Spatial Wireless (acquired by Alcatel), Cyneta Networks (acquired by Tektronix), and more recently Tango Networks and Genband. Hermon rose to industry prominence while at Nortel Networks, where he had a successful 20-year career (1981 to 2001), and served in a variety of senior management positions, most notably as General Manager, TDMA Systems, and Chief Technology Officer, Wireless Networks. Hermon has a BsC in Electrical Engineering and MBA from the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada.
